Welcome.

I’m glad you clicked.

Sometimes the first step can be the hardest. Maybe this is your first time seeking therapy, or perhaps you’ve tried before to find a therapist who truly hears and sees you. On this website, you’ll be able to learn about the way I work so you can decide if it fits what you’re looking for. You’ll find some of my thoughts on the subjects that tend to come up frequently in therapy. You’ll learn about my background. And you’ll find links to valuable resources on psychotherapy, depression, trauma, sexuality, relationships, and neuroscience.

Psychotherapy has two goals:  to heal past trauma and to unpack the harmful beliefs and conflicts that are causing you to be at war with yourself. It brings about sustainable and lasting change by breaking destructive cycles so that you achieve a sense of wholeness, freedom, and well-being. You might describe it as emptying baggage you’ve carried for too long. You might talk about it as learning to feel better in your own skin.

The exact purpose of your own therapy will be specific to you. You may be coming to work on short-term symptoms or to begin longer-term exploration of your inner life. Either way, therapy seeks to help you figure out your truth so you can move through the world with greater ease.

Why not call me at 213-807-6021 for a free, 20-minute consultation? Let’s talk about how I can help.

The writer Joan Didion once said that the reason she writes is to figure out what it is that she thinks about something. I like to say that in therapy, you talk to figure out what it is you feel about something.

There’s a big payoff in figuring out what you feel. It helps you learn what you really want, so you can move through the world more confidently. It helps you make wiser choices in love, work, family, and friendship. If you choose me as your therapist, an important part of our time together will be acknowledging that there are many facets to you. You and I will explore the many parts that make up who you are, with the acceptance that some of those parts may continue to change and evolve over time.

Our time together in psychotherapy will be in the interest of at least two goals: To heal your past traumas and to unpack the harmful beliefs and conflicts that are causing you to be at war with yourself.  In doing this, we can bring about sustainable and lasting change that will allow you a sense of wholeness, freedom, and well-being.

Psychotherapy is a collaborative undertaking. Working together, you and I will address the issues you’re struggling with by examining your past in order to strengthen your present and your relationship with yourself, others, and the world.

Psychotherapy is a practice. It involves establishing a more intimate relationship with your thoughts and feelings, and with yourself. Consistent, week-to-week therapy keeps you connected to that self, its growth, and its evolution. While most patients come once a week, some find that stretches of time where they come twice a week offer a deeper experience.
